Men Accused in Obama Assasination Plot Plead Not Guilty

Two white supremacists accused of plotting to kill U.S. President-elect Barack Obama and dozens of other black people have pleaded not guilty to more federal charges in Tennessee. Daniel Cowart of Tennessee and Paul Schlesselman of Arkansas were originally indicted on firearms and conspiracy charges. They have already pleaded not guilty to those counts.

Soul Legend, South Park's 'Chef' Isaac Hayes Dead at 65

Soul/R&B legend Isaac Hayes, a Grammy and Academy Award winner and former voice of the popular 'Chef' character on South Park, died Sunday afternoon. He was 65. Hayes' work on the South Park earned him a whole new legion of fans, but Hayes left the series after the show began poking fun at Scientology.

University of Memphis Football Star Shot to Death

The shooting death of University of Memphis football defensive lineman Taylor Bradford still has police looking for leads. The 21-year-old athlete was apparently shot in his car on Sunday and school officials are coming under fire for not implementing the warning system created after the Virginia Tech massacre.

Blogger Teen Now Defending Ex-Gay Facility

The Tennessee teen who gained worldwide attention after detailing his fear of being sent to an “ex-gay” camp in an Internet posting has now posted a follow up blog saying the entire situation has been blown out of proportion. But gay activists who have rallied in opposition of the camp say the posting shows signs of intimidation.

The ex-gay organization Love in Action has been at the center of widespread media attention with recent weblog posts from 16-year-old Zach Stark who wrote that he feared being taken to the conversion camp by his fundamentalist parents. Now, LIA is facing further scrutiny after the organization's co-founder John Evans wrote a scathing letter condemning the organization to current director John Smid.

According to reports from the Washington Blade, Zach Stark, the Tennessee teen who made headlines earlier this year by writing weblogs about his parents’ negative reaction to his coming out, is due for release from Love in Action, the religious facility that has been working to change his sexual orientation since the beginning of June.
